Argh! By the might of Mars the red! That riddle has the loftiest provenance of the lot (except maybe for the one from the bible). It was written by Jonathan Swift himself. Thank you for the editorial help! I have now added the attribution and a link to Dean Swift’s other cunning conundrums.
